Terms of Service

Effective Date: March 15, 2024

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account, depositing funds (fiat or cryptocurrency), or participating in any competition on RIOCHESS ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you must immediately discontinue use of the Platform.

2. Nature of Service: Skill-Based Gaming

RIOCHESS is a platform for Games of Skill. You acknowledge that the outcome of chess matches on our platform is determined predominantly by the physical and mental skill of the participants, rather than by chance.

This platform is NOT a gambling service or casino. You affirm that participating in skill-based competitions for real prizes is legal in your jurisdiction of residence. RIOCHESS blocks access from jurisdictions where paid skill-gaming is prohibited.

3. Fair Play & Anti-Cheat (Zero Tolerance)

The integrity of our matches is our highest priority. By competing on RIOCHESS, you explicitly agree to the following:

  • No Engines: The use of Stockfish, Leela Chess Zero, Komodo, or any other chess engine to analyze positions during a live game is strictly prohibited.
  • No External Assistance: You may not receive move suggestions from other humans, endgame tablebases, or opening databases during a live game.
  • Monitoring Consent: You consent to RIOCHESS analyzing your gameplay data, including move times, mouse movements, browser tab activity, and centipawn loss metrics, to detect cheating.

Consequence of Cheating: If our detection system or manual review team confirms cheating, your account will be permanently banned, and all funds in your wallet will be seized to refund affected opponents and cover administrative costs.

4. Account Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the Platform. You are limited to one (1) account per person. Multi-accounting to manipulate rating pools or abuse bonuses will result in an immediate ban.

5. Crypto Transactions & Risk

You acknowledge that dealing with cryptocurrencies (USDC, USDT, BTC, etc.) involves risk, including exchange rate volatility. RIOCHESS is not responsible for losses due to blockchain network congestion, incorrect wallet addresses entered by the user, or lost private keys.

6. Limitation of Liability

RIOCHESS is provided "as is." We are not liable for losses resulting from server outages, internet connection failures on your end, or browser incompatibilities. In the event of a server-side technical error voiding a match, the maximum liability is the refund of the entry fee.
